| SCHOLARSHIP
The Empire State
Potato Growers Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of a
scholarship for undergraduate students, residing in New York state,
pursing college studies in New York state, benefiting the agricultural
industry. All applications will be considered.
It will be provided
at the rate of $500 per academic year, for up to 4 consecutive years of
undergraduate education. Full-time academic study in the field of
agriculture must be pursued.
Selection will be
based on the following criteria: Agricultural-related areas of
undergraduate study (i.e. Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Crop & Soil
Sciences, Entomology, Food Sciences, Horticulture, Plant Pathology,
Agricultural Economics), academic achievement, leadership abilities and
NYS residency.
Anyone in the potato
industry should encourage qualified applicants to apply. Application forms

application forms must be postmarked on or before January 15 to be

The
winner will be honored at Empire Farm Days at the Rodman Lott & Son Farms,
Seneca Falls. The show is sponsored by the Empire State Potato Growers
Inc.
2007 Winner
The Empire State Potato Growers association is pleased to announce its annual scholarship winner is Allyson Jones-Brimmer, Lorraine, NY. Allyson is the daughter of Catherine Jones-Brimmer & Rodney Brimmer. She is a recent graduate from South Jefferson Central High School, Adams, NY. She will enter Cornell University August 2007, majoring in agricultural education.
Allyson has been active in her local Future Farmers of America chapter, and has been a member of the National FFA team representing the NY Association since 6th grade. She has served in many and varied leadership roles in local, state and national capacities. Her commitment to excellence has extended into her involvement in 4-H and community service activities. She is a member of National Honor Society and has participated in clubs and athletics during her high school career.
Allyson was recognized at EFD's NY Ag Leadership Luncheon during Empire Farm Days.
