York Potato Industry
Agriculture is the largest industry in New York State. NY
growers harvest about 27,000 acres of crop for seed, fresh and processing.
New York's potato growers are 10th in the nation in potato production. The
potato industry crop is valued at $60.9 million and production amounts to
7.29 million cwt. There are approximately 200 commercial potato growers in
New York state.
Empire
State Potato Growers Inc.
The Empire State Potato Growers Inc. is a nonprofit, grower organization
providing information, legislative and research support, grower education
and a unified voice for the betterment of New York's potato industry. This
publication is put together by the Empire State Potato Growers Inc. on
behalf of the growers who have voiced a desire to be on the list. It is by

The National Potato Council & National Potato
Promotion Board are two agricultural organizations that partner with the
Empire State Potato Growers Inc. to represent New York state potato growers
on a national level. The primary goals of the NPC are monitoring, at the
national level, all legislative, environmental, trade and grower related
issues. The NPPB's mission is to "increase demand for potatoes and
potato products through an integrated promotional program, thereby
providing US producers with expanding markets for their
